Olatunji Olaigbe

I’m Olatunji Olaigbe, a storyteller, and advocacy & development strategist. I have – and continue to work and volunteer extensively in both the media and development space.

Hi, welcome to Olatunji’s one-room apartment on the (nearly) world wide web.

Early in my career I never thought I’d ever need one of these personal website thingies, they always felt a bit extra. But here we are, still early into that career – and with a website.

As time passed – and as my passion got my hand into a lot of pots – having a place on the internet where I could pin and rope all my works became not just necessary, but compulsory. So, in December 2023, after thinking about having a portfolio website for a little over a year and tinkering with one too many DIY options, I asked a developer friend to help me out and here we are—ding ding ding.

Alright, I’m Olatunji Olaigbe, a storyteller, and advocacy & development strategist. I have – and continue to – work and volunteer extensively in both the media and development space. I either tell stories, help others tell their stories, or do the raw gritting development work on agriculture, tech, economic inequality, cyber and information security, climate change, and the environment. I focus on the intersection of these topics with the human and often African experience in a way that truly takes the conversation and development forward.

Editor

My work as an editor revolves around the author. I think about how to fix ideological flaws, perfect the storytelling, and incorporate storytelling accessories .

Comms & Storyteling

I work as a volunteer, contract staff and occasionally, as a consultant for organizations to help them better their communications and storytelling.

Advocacy & development strategist

I was a volunteer way before I was a journalist or comms personnel. In 2018, I started with a advocacy project for the World Suicide Prevention Day and I’ve not stopped since then.

Resource Person

I know a lot about a lot of things; but I also know a lot more about certain things. Sometimes, people ask me to come teach others about those things

Reviews don’t hurt, right?

“”
Olatunji has reported some of the most interesting stories we’ve published during my time as Rest of World’s Africa Editor. He is relentless in his pursuit of stories and doesn’t shy away from asking questions when he needs to.

David Adeleke

Africa Editor, Rest of World

“I have known Olatunji for a little over four years, and in that period, I have seen him grow tremendously from being merely a journalism enthusiast to being one of the most incredible journalists in Africa. His temerity to seek big, important stories continues to stand out as an essential trait of his person.
Burning even more fiercely than his passion for knowledge and impeccable execution is his unrelenting humility which makes him an unimpeachable team player wherever he goes. Whether he’s leading or being led, Olatunji has a good sense of team coordination that makes him very useful to the team and his colleagues.
Working with Olatunji is always a blessing as he comes ready to take on challenges, work with new people, do important stories, and help the world around him shine just a little bit brighter”

Muhammed Akinyemi

Editor, Newsroom innovator, and product manager

“”I had the privilege of working closely with Olatunji on a climate and education project as a communications lead. His dedication and expertise in capturing the essence of our project were truly remarkable. Olatunji’s articles not only informed but also inspired, effectively communicating the significance of the climate and education connection. His professionalism, attention to detail, and proactive approach greatly contributed to the project’s successI wholeheartedly recommend Olatunji for his exceptional journalism skills and his ability to make a meaningful impact in any endeavor he undertakes.

You can also follow me on X (formerly Twitter), where I am mostly active and have a human face; on Instagram, where I only post images and videos and share nostalgic shit; on LinkedIn, where you know… I try to do LinkedIn stuff like everybody else; and probably not on Facebook, where I reject over 95% of all the friend requests I get – I take the “people you may know” phrase pretty seriously.

Email

The email thing, however, works a hundred percent.  Let’s talk!
